A Kitchen Mixer Tap That Indicates Water Temperature
We’re proud of the fact that we offer our accessible kitchens alongside standard kitchens. This means we vet all products that come our way and evaluate their usefulness to a wider audience than even the manufacturer may have intended.
Every once in a while we come across an innovative crossover product that we feel might have some interest in our standard AND accessible kitchens, and the Aurora kitchen mixer by Abode has cropped up recently in this category.
The Aurora is a contemporary kitchen mixer by Abode, with modern styling and high quality brass and chrome construction. Its added ‘extra’ is the LED light at the base of the tap, that glows red when the water is hot, blue when the water is cold, and pink when the water is warm. The Aurora comes in a twin lever model (above) and a single lever model with pullout spray (below), and in both cases the LED light creates a clever visual cue to indicate the temperature of the water to the end-user. This could be a useful feature for children, people with acquired brain injury or people who experience numb hands or fingers and would not otherwise be able to gauge the temperature of the water before being injured by hot water.
We think the Aurora offers clean lines and an interesting safety feature that we could imagine seeing offered more widely by tap manufacturers in future. What do you think?
