We recently attended the Kitchen Industry’s biggest annual show at the NEC Birmingham, and we were particularly on the look-out for new handle choices to compliment our beautiful luxury kitchens.
As an independent studio we’re able to select our own product ranges which means our clients are not tied to a single manufacturer. We pride ourselves on being able to offer any style of kitchen in any finish, and the right handles can be the perfect finishing touch.
This year, the emphasis was very much on ‘metallics’ in every part of the show, and the stands showing handles were no exception. We saw a broad selection of metallic colours and finishes, some of them sleek and polished, and others deliberately rough and textured, chiming in with a theme we see a lot in contemporary kitchens:- mixing high gloss finishes with textured surfaces.
Black handles were another theme we noticed, giving a very subdued and masculine edge to a kitchen scheme, available in various styles for both cupboards and drawers.
In addition to current ranges, some manufacturers brought along handles in development for feedback from studios and designers, to give them input on upcoming ranges. The metallic theme was still in evidence, and some of the long handles are clearly designed to give a handleless look, with the function of a handle.
It’s always great to meet manufacturers and experience new ranges and we look forward to KBB 2019.
