Design Matters was formed in 1992 by the owner Richard Smithies, to offer a personal and reliable kitchen design service supported by the highest quality products. Disabled clients can call upon an exhaustive range of kitchen styles, appliances and accessories, because we believe that access for all means just that.
We provide a genuinely bespoke solution to each design brief. No two customers are the same, therefore no two kitchen designs are the same. We take detailed measurements to ensure that mobility, reach and function are considered fully in every element of each new kitchen project. We have extensive experience of designing for people with a wide range of impairments, and specialise in kitchens that are flexible; meeting the needs of a variety of users in a family home or multi-occupational environment. |

We work with our clients until every detail has been resolved and our well-established fitting teams understand that tidiness and attention to detail are especially important when fitting accessible kitchens. They understand the design brief and liaise closely with the showroom team to ensure that clients are completely satisfied.
Design Matters is based in Flackwell Heath, South Bucks where its state-of-the-art fully accessible showroom provides a full range of kitchen concepts and designs, and a fully featured accessible kitchen showcasing a range of innovative and enabling design ideas. Design Matters recently became a member of ACID (an organisation against copying in design), to protect its latest designs and ideas, and registers new designs with ACID’s design registry. Fully backed by the KBSA, and in a convenient village location with accessible parking facilities, Design Matters is the UK’s leading kitchen design studio for disabled clients, and has an extensive portfolio of successful projects to prove it. |
