The brief for this project was to supply a stylish family kitchen, with full access for a wheelchair user and his personal assistant. The generous proportions of the room, and excellent natural light were a real advantage to this project and allowed materials in rich shades to be used in the design.
Our client selected a Walnut Dinedor kitchen by Access Matters, with solid walnut door frames, and veneered centre panels to enable colour-matching in this beautiful natural material. Contrasting stainless steel plinth was chosen to reflect extra light at floor level, and set off the modern LED plinth lighting.
A Zip Hydrotap was installed to supply instant hot water at the touch of a switch, providing a much safer means of making hot drinks than manipulating a heavy kettle. Corian worksurfaces in Cameo White have been fitted throughout to provide a seamless, hygienic surface where pots and dishes can be slid comfortably from one area to another. This has also allowed a solid fascia to be fitted to the front of the sink area where lever taps can be mounted, and raised edges to contain spills on the worksurface.
Gaggenau appliances were specified throughout, and mounted at the precise height required by our client to ensure full access. A pull-out Dish Drawer by Fisher & Paykel has been incorporated next to the sink, making loading from the wet area as convenient as possible. The Falmec stainless steel canopy extractor hood has a remote control, to allow easy access and control of this essential appliance. |
