Beautiful furniture that will make your kitchen safe and enjoyable again
Access Matters – The Finest Accessible Kitchens in the UK!
Design Matters is a family-run business with over 30 years experience in kitchen design, specialising for 25 years in kitchens for clients who are older or have a disability. We have developed our own unique range of furniture called Access Matters, designed by our award-winning senior design consultant, Adam Thomas, who is an expert in accessible design. As a wheelchair user with a spinal injury, he has designed kitchens for clients affected by a wide variety of impairments including arthritis, hypermobility syndrome, cerebral palsy, acquired brain injury, multiple sclerosis, spina bifida, post-polio syndrome, restricted growth, thalidomide, impaired vision, amputation and spinal injury.
Access Matters furniture allows our designers to create high quality, accessible kitchens for disabled people with all the style you would expect from a standard kitchen. Look at our portfolio of standard kitchens. Then compare them with our gorgeous accessible kitchens. Can you tell the difference? Shouldn’t all accessible kitchens look as stunning as these? The range offers kitchens in glossy colours, natural timber and a high pressure laminate for the ultimate in durability.
We can also add a wide range of special design features to make your kitchen safer, for example the kitchen featured above was designed for a client who experienced traumatic injury and became a wheelchair user. Everything in this kitchen has been designed to make a bad day a better day, including soft touch handles, remote control extractor hood, push away oven doors and appliances with touch controls. The hob and sink are mounted on a electronic rise and fall unit, and so is the wall-mounted microwave! Because Access Matters furniture has been designed exclusively for the use of disabled people, it can be zero-rated for VAT when purchased by a disabled person for their personal use, providing our clients with a substantial financial advantage.
The Access Matters difference:
- Safe, durable kitchen furniture, designed to last a lifetime
- Hidden inclusive design features that make every kitchen a pleasure to use
- Special VAT terms for disabled people
- Expert design advice
- Full kitchen design and installation service if required
