The brief for this project was to take a fresh look at the existing ground floor layout of a now substantial house that had been extended several times over the years. Our clients wanted to create a large family kitchen/dining area, ideal for entertaining, giving on to the very attractive patio and garden. The formal dining room was relocated, and we worked around extensive building alterations to create a light and airy new room. The new informal dining area was positioned to make the most of garden views, and additional seating was planned around the central preparation island, again facing the garden, to create the ideal atmosphere for informal entertaining.

Our clients selected an Edwin Loxley handmade kitchen in Fluted Shaker style with a quirked frame, in a cream painted finish, with patina to lift out detail. Pewter finial hinges and knobs were selected to contrast with the painted finish and complement the country feel of the clients rustic pine furniture. Additional larder units were specified by our designer in a reduced custom depth, to create additional storage and provide a decorative focus to the end wall of the kitchen. Subtle Ivory Brown granite worksurfaces, running to an upstand and extending over the windowsill give a substantial luxury feel to the room. The upstand is increased in height over the sink area, and the same granite is used inside the bespoke mantel structure as a splashback for the stunning freestanding Britannia range cooker. Our clients choice of quality materials in this design make this kitchen a striking heirloom that will stand the test of time.
Little did we know when we embarked on the new kitchen project how well it was going to turn out, and surpass all our expectations. |
