The brief for this project was to create a light and spacious family kitchen, where meals could be taken. Ample storage, and the incorporation of an American style side-by-side fridge freezer for chilled water and ice were important to our client. We met these requirements by removing a dividing wall between the original kitchen and dining areas to create a ‘living kitchen’ to stunning effect.
Our client selected a Rational Parma kitchen in Alaska Birch with aluminium recessed handles. Miele stainless steel integrated appliances were incorporated throughout. Frosted glass doors were used extensively in this kitchen, and pale Cashmere White granite worksurfaces create light, reflective areas. Granite upstands and windowsill, finish a practical yet stylish wet area, and complete the luxury feel. The central preparation area was designed with aluminium legs to create a greater feeling of space at floor level. It is topped with a toughened glass worksurface with gently curved ends, which reflects light into the room. Dark Stripwood American Oak flooring by Amtico lends a strong contrast to the pale tones of the kitchen cabinets. The overall feel of the completed kitchen is fabulously light and airy, with a timeless appeal. |
